Brooklyn is New York City’s most populous borough and home to the second-largest public park in the state, Prospect Park. The 585-acre park was inspired by the creation of Central Park and established in the 1860s by the Brooklyn Parks Commissioners.

Within the park, visitors can find a number of landmarks, including the Prospect Park Zoo, the Audubon Center, and several historic, 18th century homes. Prospect Park also offers nature-based activities such as bird-watching and fishing. The site of the only lake in Brooklyn, Prospect Park offers anglers the chance to catch and release bass and sunfish. The park also contains multiple sports venues suitable for playing basketball, tennis, volleyball, and soccer.
